The Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers still haven't agreed on a free agent contract.
The bizarre lack of agreement at least has a bit of a timeline attached to it, according to Steelers coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday.
"I think what you do in the draft oftentimes affects maybe some, you know, talent acquisition that happens after," Tomlin said. "We'll see how the acquisitions go this weekend."
That's notable for a few possible reasons. One is that the Steelers are considering either Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart at No. 21, and both would lower the necessity of bringing in Rodgers.
It could also work in reverse. If the Steelers don't draft a QB, the next phone call to Rodgers might come quickly.
Of course, a timeline like this works two ways. If Rodgers wants to keep lollygagging and delaying, nothing will get done. But Pittsburgh is starting to run out of time for a decision.
Not knowing before the draft is poor form by Rodgers. He's not helping whatever team it is that winds up with him be the best prepared for what is to come.
It makes perfect sense that whatever team Rodgers wants will emerge out of the blue at the last minute.
The rest of the NFL world just keeps on awaiting the news.
Sometime along the way, one of the insiders will tweet a predicted move and that'll be that.
Either this version of Monopoly will be a huge hit, or everyone will hate it a little extra along the way.
