The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback situation is uncertain after the 2025 NFL Draft. Though the team used a sixth-round pick on Ohio State signal-caller Will Howard, the Steelers don't have a starting-caliber quarterback on the roster and are still waiting on Aaron Rodgers to make a decision.
Though the Rodgers situation has Pittsburgh on edge, general manager Omar Khan isn't letting that stop him from making moves. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Steelers are signing wide receiver Robert Woods to a one-year deal worth $2 million,
"The Steelers are signing veteran WR Robert Woods to a 1-year, $2M deal. A new target and big-time locker room presence for… whoever their QB ends up being. The former Texans WR lands in a great spot," Rapoport wrote.
Woods is no longer a high-production receiver, but the 33-year-old has a ton of experience and will serve as solid depth in Pittsburgh's wide receive room. The former second-round pick spent the 2023 and 2024 campaigns with the Houston Texans and tallied 20 receptions for 203 yards last year.
The Steelers already made a splash addition to the position group this offseason by acquiring DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks, but signing Woods to a cheap deal after the draft is a savvy move.
The Super Bowl LVI champion has posted two 1,000-yard seasons in his career, both coming with the Los Angeles Rams.
