Superstar WR Wants to Return Home to Buffalo by Reuniting with Bills

Bills release wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie - Buffalo Rumblings

Isaiah McKenzie, the Buffalo-born wide receiver, is eager to reunite with the Buffalo Bills in 2025, aiming to rekindle his magic in his hometown. As a free agent, his potential return could bolster Josh Allen’s offense and electrify Bills Mafia.

McKenzie, 30, dazzled for the Bills from 2018 to 2022, posting 137 receptions for 1,316 yards and 11 touchdowns across 68 games. After stints with the Colts, Giants, and Dolphins’ practice squad, he’s targeting a one-year, $2.5 million deal, per Spotrac projections.

“I left my heart in Buffalo,” McKenzie told The Buffalo News’ Ryan O’Halloran. “Reuniting with Allen and the Bills is all I dream about.”

A McKinley High alum, McKenzie’s 4.42-second 40-yard dash and slot receiver versatility align with Joe Brady’s offense. His 2022 career-best 42 catches for 423 yards and four touchdowns showed his chemistry with Allen, plus 75 punt returns for 691 yards.

McKenzie’s a hometown spark,” said NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks. “His return would lift Buffalo’s roster and spirit.”

The Bills’ receivers, led by Khalil Shakir and Treylon Burks, crave veteran reliability. With Curtis Samuel’s free agency looming and Keon Coleman’s struggles, McKenzie could complement James Cook’s backfield in Brady’s play-action plays. Brandon Beane’s $5.3 million cap space supports a budget-friendly signing.

McKenzie’s 3,097 career receiving yards and 21 touchdowns, paired with his Buffalo roots, make him a fan favorite. Teaming with locals like Joe Andreessen and Cam Lewis could boost team morale. Beane’s offseason additions—Justin Simmons, Tre’Davious White—signal a Super Bowl push.

With the 2025 NFL Draft eyeing Maxwell Hairston, McKenzie’s reunion could fuel the Bills’ charge against the Chiefs. Sean McDermott’s squad needs a feel-good story. Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp for updates.
