Philadelphia Eagles Projected to Trade Key Defensive Lineman to 49ers

Bryce Huff
The Philadelphia Eagles are still navigating through the 2025 offseason after winning the Super Bowl to finish last season. While they have been successful with keeping most of their roster in place, they have lost some key players.

With recent reports, it appears that they are going to be losing another player as well.

Philadelphia Eagles to Trade Bryce Huff

As the offseason progresses, trade rumors have sparked. With that, two names have been commonly linked together as players the Eagles could look to trade at some point before the 2025 NFL season. One player is Dallas Goedert, and the other has been Bryce Huff. Of the two, it is more likely Huff gets traded.

Bryce Huff Contract With the Philadelphia Eagles

Last free agency, the Eagles went out to sign Huff to a three-year, $51.1 million dollar contract in hopes that he would end up replacing Haason Reddick’s production on the defensive line. Unfortunately for the Eagles, things did not end up that way.

What Went Wrong for Bryce Huff on the Philadelphia Eagles

At just 25 years old, Huff was coming off a 10-sack season on the New York Jets, making him a prime candidate to provide youth, and production to the defensive line of the Eagles. Huff would play in just 12 games though, and over the games he did play, only had 2.5 sacks. The defensive scheme of the Eagles didn’t exactly fit the skill set that Huff has, creating limitations.

As the Eagles look to become back-to-back champions, having Huff on the roster after seeing Nolan Smith emerge doesn’t make sense. Instead, the Eagles can trade Huff and get value in return.

San Francisco 49ers Trade for Bryce Huff

One ideal team that could emerge as trade candidates for Bryce Huff is the San Francisco 49ers.

Philadelphia Eagles Receive: 2025 5th Round Pick

By trading for Huff, they get another edge rusher to pair alongside Nick Bosa that can be productive and get pressure, something they missed last season. This move would also reunite Huff with Robert Saleh, who was the head coach of the Jets during the 2023 season where Huff thrived under his scheme with 10.5 sacks.

If Huff can get back to that type of production under Saleh, the 49ers’ defense would see a major boost in production this season while getting a young edge rusher to build around for the future.
