Green Bay, WI – April 28, 2025 – The Green Bay Packers have added a battle-tested run-stopper to their defensive line, signing undrafted free agent (UDFA) Nazir Stackhouse, a 23-year-old nose tackle from Georgia who helped secure two NCAA National Championships (2022, 2023). With T.J. Slaton’s departure to free agency leaving a gap in the run defense, Stackhouse’s size and experience make him a promising addition for a team chasing a Super Bowl in 2025.
Stackhouse, standing 6’3” and weighing 320 pounds, was a linchpin for Georgia’s elite defense, starting 42 consecutive games from 2022 to 2024. He recorded 96 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, and a blocked field goal across 59 games. His 2023 interception against Missouri, returned 43 yards to the 5-yard line, highlighted rare agility for a defensive tackle. Despite late-round draft projections, Stackhouse went undrafted due to limited pass-rush production in a deep defensive line class.
“Stackhouse’s strength and discipline are NFL-ready,” GM Brian Gutekunst told The Green Bay Press-Gazette. “His championship pedigree is a bonus.”
In 2024, the Packers’ defense struggled without Slaton, allowing 7.6 net yards per pass attempt compared to 5.8 with him. Stackhouse’s powerful upper body, gap discipline, and ability to anchor against double-teams fit seamlessly into Jeff Hafley’s 4-3 scheme. He’ll compete with sixth-round pick Warren Brinson, a fellow Georgia Bulldog, and veterans Kenny Clark and Devonte Wyatt for snaps at nose tackle or 2i-technique.
With $6.8 million in cap space and only one defensive line draft pick, the Packers are banking on Stackhouse’s high-upside potential. His Second-team All-SEC honors (2022, 2023) and clutch plays—like blocking a field goal in the 2022 SEC Championship—signal his readiness for the NFL. Stackhouse’s experience in high-stakes games could help him secure a roster spot.
“He’s a space-eater who elevates linebackers,” said NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah. “Green Bay found a gem.”
Stackhouse must outshine Brinson and prove his worth in training camp to earn a role. His championship pedigree and run-stopping prowess position him as a potential anchor for the Packers’ defensive front, bolstering a unit aiming to dominate the NFC North in 2025.
