For as many moves that have been made over the 2025 NFL offseason so far, there is one team that has been rather quiet throughout the offseason up to this point. That team is the Kansas City Chiefs, which is surprising as they came off a loss in the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles and have done little to improve the team so far.
They did add Kristian Fulton, Mike Edwards, Jerry Tillery, and Jaylon Moore in free agency, but none of them were the truly groundbreaking signings that are going to alter the directory of the team.
One of the biggest things is getting better offensive line production to protect Patrick Mahomes, especially after he was constantly under pressure against the Eagles in the Super Bowl. Signing just Jaylon Moore is not going cut it, and the Chiefs will have to consider a trade for their franchise tackle of the future.
Kansas City Trades With New Orleans Saints to Move Up in the 2025 NFL Draft
For the Kansas City Chiefs, rumors have started circulating that they are looking to trade up in the NFL Draft to secure their franchise offensive tackle. For them to do so, trading up to get the ninth pick currently held by the New Orleans Saints would be the spot to do so. This would give them the ability to jump the Chicago Bears, and be in a prime spot to get the offensive tackle that they want protecting Patrick Mahomes for the future.
For the Saints, trading down gets them more draft capital to build out their roster for the future with players on rookie contracts. Moving back to 31 still lands them in a place to pick an edge rusher like they want to, as there is the possibility James Pearce Jr, Nic Scourton, or Donovan Ezeiruaku are there.
Kansas City Chiefs-New Orleans Saints Projected Draft Trade:
Kansas City Chiefs Receive: 2025 1st Round Pick (9th)
New Orleans Saints Receive: 2025 1st Round Pick (31st), 2025 5th Round Pick, 2026 1st Round Pick, 2026 4th Round Pick
That being said, for the Chiefs to give up this must draft capital, it would be to draft Armand Membou.
With the athleticism of Armand Membou, he is a blue-chip prospect to make it worth while for the Chiefs to trade up for. This would also keep Membou in Missouri as he is from Lees Summit, Missouri, and went to play for the Missouri Tigers at the college level. He is a local prospect that the Chiefs would have been able to watch develop over the last few seasons.
Membou’s tape reflects his strengths as he has an excellent far,e that gives him the ability to gain natural leverage and move defenders to create running lanes, or push them back to keep a clean pocket. Membou also has shown great hand placement and is quick out of his stance to set his anchor, which led to him allowing no sacks last season, and just eight pressures.
Being just 21 years old, Armand Membou is the ideal next franchise offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs.
