Former Eagles Signs with Super Bowl Contender After Team Release

Report: James Bradberry Cut After Eagles' Super Bowl Win to Save Salary Cap Space

Buffalo, NY – April 27, 2025 – A former Eagles cornerback, cut after a Super Bowl LIX title, has joined the Buffalo Bills, sources told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The veteran aims to fortify a contender’s secondary, chasing another championship with a one-year deal.

James Bradberry, released in March 2025, missed 2024 with a torn Achilles. His 44 tackles, 3 interceptions in 2022 earned All-Pro honors, but a 114.3 passer rating against in 2023 prompted Philly’s move, per The Athletic. Buffalo seized the opportunity.

The Bills signed Bradberry to a one-year, $6 million deal, per NFL Network. Needing a CB2 beside Christian Benford, they value his 19 career interceptions and ties to coach Sean McDermott from Carolina, despite Rasul Douglas’ free agency.

“He’s a savvy veteran,” McDermott said. Bradberry’s 112 pass deflections could bolster Buffalo’s 24th-ranked pass defense (226.1 yards/game). His 2022 51.6 passer rating against surpasses Philly’s Andrew Mukuba, strengthening the Bills’ secondary.

Bradberry’s 2023 struggles (11 TDs allowed) and injury raised doubts. “I’m ready,” he told PhillyVoice. At 32, his experience fuels Josh Allen’s title push, outshining Eagles’ youth in Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, per Bleeding Green Nation.

Buffalo sees Bradberry as a stopgap, eyeing draft corners like Trey Amos. “He’s a pro,” NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said. The Bills’ secondary, with Kaiir Elam, gains depth, challenging AFC East rivals like the Jets, per Sporting News.

Philly’s release of Bradberry and Darius Slay saved $6.4 million, enabling Jihaad Campbell’s draft. The Eagles, with Kyle McCord added, lean on youth, while Buffalo banks on Bradberry’s pedigree for a Super Bowl run.

Bradberry’s signing could spark Buffalo’s championship quest. His redemption hinges on recapturing 2022 form, fortifying the Bills’ defense to cement their contender status against the NFL’s elite.
