Detroit, MI – July 25, 2025
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has suspended all team practices for the next two days after a series of heated fights broke out between two of his most prominent stars, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Brian Branch.
Sources at Allen Park report that Campbell made the decision after back-to-back days of escalating scuffles between the star receiver and defensive back, forcing him to abruptly end practice sessions on both occasions. The move signals an urgent need to restore discipline and refocus the roster after a turbulent start to training camp.
#Lions HC Dan Campbell had to stop practice again today, as the physicality was once again pretty intense. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Brian Branch got into it a few times.
Things also became a bit chippy between Giovanni Manu and Brodric Martin.

Observers say tensions first boiled over during Tuesday’s drills, with minor altercations giving way to multiple confrontations on Wednesday. By Thursday morning, Campbell had seen enough — ordering all activities halted for 48 hours and gathering the team for a stern warning.
The consequences don’t stop at the practice field. In an unprecedented disciplinary move, Campbell and the Lions front office have handed down a four-game suspension to both St. Brown and Branch, effective immediately once the regular season begins. The decision is intended to send a clear message about the importance of unity and professionalism.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, coming off a record-setting campaign that saw him finish among the league leaders in receptions, yards, and touchdowns, will now miss the opening stretch. Brian Branch, already one of the most versatile and productive young defensive backs in the NFL, also faces a major setback to start his third season.

The Lions are coming off a 15-2 season and were favorites to contend again, but the early-camp turmoil has raised tough questions about leadership and focus. Campbell has insisted that team culture and accountability will remain the top priorities as the Lions chase another deep playoff run.
With two superstars sidelined and training camp paused, Detroit must regroup quickly if it hopes to turn last season’s promise into postseason redemption.
