Kansas City, MO – April 27, 2025
The Kansas City Chiefs reshaped their offense on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft, trading wide receiver Skyy Moore to the Las Vegas Raiders for wide receiver Tre Tucker and a 2025 sixth-round draft pick (No. 190), sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal aims to inject speed into Patrick Mahomes’ arsenal after a 40-22 Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
In the trade, the Chiefs sent Moore, a 2022 second-round pick who recorded 21 catches for 261 yards in 2024 (PFF grade 58.7), to Las Vegas. In return, Kansas City acquired Tucker, a 2023 third-round pick with 19 catches for 363 yards and a 4.3-second 40-yard dash, plus the Raiders’ sixth-round pick (NFL.com). The trade aligns with the Chiefs’ need for explosive receivers, as Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown alone couldn’t offset DeAndre Hopkins’ departure and Rashee Rice’s potential suspension.
“Tucker’s speed transforms our attack,” coach Andy Reid told reporters. With $12.7 million in cap space, Kansas City absorbs Tucker’s $1.1 million 2025 cap hit while shedding Moore’s $1.9 million, saving $0.8 million (Spotrac). The Chiefs, fresh off drafting Josh Simmons, Omarr Norman-Lott, Ashton Gillotte, and Nohl Williams, prioritized offensive firepower.
The Raiders, mired in a 2-15 rebuild, receive Moore to bolster their slot alongside Jakobi Meyers for quarterback Jake Haener. “Skyy’s a young talent,” coach Pete Carroll said. Las Vegas sacrifices Tucker, a depth piece behind Meyers and DJ Turner, to gain Moore’s potential.
GM Brett Veach lauded the swap: “Tre’s a perfect fit.” Tucker’s deep-threat ability addresses Kansas City’s anemic 2024 receiving output (four 20-plus-yard catches in Super Bowl LIX). With three remaining picks, including No. 133, the Chiefs eye running back depth. This trade fuels Kansas City’s 2025 Super Bowl aspirations, sharpening Mahomes’ edge.
