Kansas City, MO – April 15, 2025
Carson Wentz is letting it rip. The former Kansas City Chiefs backup quarterback, axed last month after a one-year run, tore into the team Monday with a scorching rebuke, sources told ESPN. The cut—clearing room for Gardner Minshew to shadow Patrick Mahomes—has Wentz fuming, and he’s not sparing his ex-teammate either.
Wentz, who inked a $3.325 million deal in April 2024, got one start in Week 18, a 38-0 flop against Denver with 98 yards on 10-of-17 passes. Mostly, he was Mahomes’ sideline wingman, tossing 20 yards in a Week 15 cameo against Cleveland. But the 32-year-old wanted more snaps, not a pink slip.
“They tossed me out like trash,” Wentz raged to reporters, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “I grinded for KC—total loyalty, zero respect.”
“Wentz got screwed—Chiefs fumbled big!”
Then came the bombshell. Wentz fired off a six-word jab at Mahomes on X, hinting at locker room tension:
“You’re great, Pat, but trust’s earned.”
Chiefs Kingdom split on X. “Wentz whining? Bye, Felicia,” one fan snapped. Another countered, “He’s spitting facts—Veach botched this.” The Chiefs’ call came after a 40-22 Super Bowl LIX loss to the Eagles, with Minshew’s March signing sealing Wentz’s fate (NFL.com).
“Wentz vs. Mahomes? Spill the tea!”
Wentz’s 2017 Pro Bowl glow—33 TDs, 11-2 with Philly—dimmed after injuries and hops to Indy, Washington, and the Rams. Still, his 163-yard, two-TD start for LA in 2023 showed he’s not washed. “I’m a starter, not a cheerleader,” he told ESPN, eyes blazing.
“Carson’s got a point—Chiefs shady!”
Veach’s $11.7 million cap space forced tough cuts, but Wentz’s exit burns. Rumors swirl he’s eyeing Cleveland or Miami (Sports Illustrated, March 2025). “I’ll prove them wrong,” he vowed. Chiefs fans brace—Wentz’s next act could haunt Arrowhead.
