Philadelphia, PA – July 13, 2025
Hundreds of elderly Philadelphia residents faced an uncertain future this summer, as several local nursing homes announced they would be forced to close their doors in August due to a lack of funding. With the looming threat of homelessness for some of the city’s most vulnerable citizens, Eagles legend Brandon Graham and his wife have stepped forward to offer a lifeline.
Moved by news reports and personal visits to affected facilities, Graham and his wife committed the financial resources necessary to keep the nursing homes operational through the coming year. Their contribution will cover operating costs, staff salaries, and basic needs for residents, buying critical time for administrators to secure more sustainable funding.
"We couldn’t stand by and watch so many of our elders lose the only home they have," Graham said in a statement. "Philadelphia has given us so much, and we feel it’s our duty to support the generation that built this city."
The closure of these facilities would have left hundreds of seniors—many with no family or support network—at risk of homelessness. For city officials and community advocates, the Grahams’ intervention has provided more than just funds; it has restored hope.
A spokesperson for one of the homes shared, “The news was devastating for our residents and staff. Thanks to the Graham family, we now have the breathing room to care for our elders and work toward a long-term solution.”
Since joining the Eagles, Brandon Graham has become known for both his play on the field and his compassion off of it. This latest gesture, in partnership with his wife, is a testament to their commitment to Philadelphia and the people who call it home.
As the community rallies around its senior citizens, the Grahams’ generosity stands as a reminder of the difference one family can make—ensuring dignity, safety, and belonging for Philadelphia’s oldest generation.
