Buffalo, NY – April 28, 2025
The Buffalo Bills bolstered their receiving corps, signing former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Elijah Moore to a one-year, $3.5 million deal, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. With Moore’s 61 catches and 538 yards in 2024, the move adds a proven playmaker at a bargain price to Josh Allen’s arsenal post-Stefon Diggs.
Moore, 27, visited Buffalo on Monday, sparking talks that outpaced an unusual unrestricted free agent tender from the Browns. Brandon Beane, leveraging $5.3 million in cap space, secured Moore to deepen a receiver room featuring Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman, addressing a passing attack that ranked 18th in yards per attempt (7.6) in 2024.
“Moore’s a dynamic fit,” Beane told The Buffalo News’ Ryan O’Halloran. “He gives Allen a versatile target to stretch defenses.”
In 2024, Moore set a career-high 61 receptions, showcasing speed and route-running for Cleveland. His connection to Bills receiver Josh Palmer, a high school teammate at St. Thomas Aquinas, adds chemistry. Despite only one touchdown, Moore’s 8.8 yards per catch and ability to play slot or outside align with Joe Brady’s RPO scheme.
“This is a steal,” said NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks. “Moore could ignite Allen’s offense at a fraction of the cost.”
The Bills, who drafted only Kaden Prather in Round 7, needed a veteran presence after cutting Dane Jackson to save $2.5 million. James Cook’s contract drama—demanding $15 million annually against Beane’s $12 million offer—raises questions, but Moore’s signing ensures Allen’s 4,306-yard passing attack gains flexibility. If Cook departs, Moore could elevate Buffalo’s aerial focus in 2025. Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp for updates.
