Buffalo, NY – May 1, 2025
The Buffalo Bills bolstered their offense, trading with the Los Angeles Rams for tight end Tyler Higbee, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. With 361 career receptions, Higbee joins Dalton Kincaid, giving Josh Allen a seasoned weapon to fuel the 2025 Super Bowl chase.
Higbee, 32, became available after the Rams drafted Terrance Ferguson in 2025. Brandon Beane, navigating a $5.3 million cap, saw Higbee as a perfect complement to Kincaid, whose 448 yards in 2024 disappointed. James Cook’s $15 million contract dispute adds urgency to offensive upgrades.
“Higbee’s a proven veteran,” Beane told The Buffalo News’ Ryan O’Halloran. “He’ll amplify Allen’s attack.”
Bills receive: Tyler Higbee, a reliable TE with 3,602 yards and 22 touchdowns over 125 games. Despite a 2023 knee injury (ACL/MCL) limiting him to 52 yards in 2024, his blocking (PFF grade 68.3) and red-zone presence enhance Kincaid’s receiving in Joe Brady’s scheme.
Rams receive: A 2026 sixth-round pick, saving $4 million in cap space. With Ferguson’s emergence and Higbee’s $4.5 million cap hit in his final contract year, the trade allows Los Angeles to prioritize youth while gaining draft capital.
The Bills, who drafted only Kaden Prather at receiver, needed a TE2 to support Allen’s 4,306-yard offense. Higbee surpasses Dawson Knox’s costly $14.5 million cap hit and Quintin Morris’s minimal offense, boosting Cook’s 1,086-yard run game against defenses like the Chiefs.
