Eagles Super Bowl champion passed away at the age of 38

Former Eagles, Texans linebacker Bryan Braman battling 'rare' cancer | Fox News

Philadelphia, PA – July 17, 2025

The Philadelphia Eagles community is grieving the loss of one of its most fearless warriors. A Super Bowl champion known for his relentless energy has passed away far too soon, leaving behind a legacy built on heart and hustle.

News broke early Wednesday that the former linebacker and special teams standout died at just 38 after a courageous battle with a rare, aggressive form of cancer. He had undergone multiple surgeries since his diagnosis in February.

That warrior was Bryan Braman, a name etched into Eagles lore not for flash, but for fury. Though never a starter, Braman made game-changing plays that helped define the franchise’s unforgettable 2017 championship run.

"I wore midnight green with pride, not for stats, but for the fight," he once said, according to former teammate Brent Celek. "If I was on the field, somebody was getting hit."

Braman’s blocked punt in the Divisional Round against Atlanta shifted momentum and ignited a Super Bowl path. He later recorded a tackle in the 41-33 victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII — a moment that made his journey complete.

He originally joined Philadelphia in 2014 after three seasons with the Houston Texans. Across four years and 51 regular-season games with the Eagles, he became a cornerstone of the special teams unit.

Coaches praised his relentless effort; teammates called him a “heat-seeking missile.” Fans didn’t need a Pro Bowl résumé to love Braman — they saw the blood, sweat, and sacrifices every Sunday.

Even when injuries and roster moves sent him elsewhere, the Eagles brought him back for the playoff run in 2017. That gesture spoke volumes: his grit was irreplaceable when it mattered most.

Bryan Braman may not lead the Eagles record books, but he earned something far rarer — the respect of Philadelphia. He fought for every inch, every snap, and every fan who ever believed. Rest easy, 56.
