Eagles In Talks to Sign Tweener LB/DL to Bolster Defense with Former Cleveland Browns Player

NFL free agency: Browns DE Ogbo Okoronkwo likely out for season, now what? - Dawgs By Nature

Philadelphia, PA – June 28, 2025

The Eagles are plotting a defensive upgrade! In talks to sign a versatile tweener from the Cleveland Browns, Philly aims to fortify its pass rush post-Super Bowl LIX, sources told ESPN.

With Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham gone, GM Howie Roseman is targeting a multi-role defender. The move could keep Philly’s championship defense dominant in 2025.

The player is Ogbo Okoronkwo, a 30-year-old linebacker/defensive end cut by the Browns on June 26. His 17 career sacks bring instant depth to Philly’s line.

Coach Nick Sirianni praised, “His flexibility suits Vic Fangio’s scheme.” Okoronkwo’s ability to play edge and linebacker could complement Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt.

The Eagles, with 23.9 million in 2026 cap space, can snag Okoronkwo on a budget deal. His expired $19 million Browns contract makes him a steal.

Okoronkwo’s Super Bowl LVI ring with the Rams adds pedigree. His 3 sacks in 2024 could pair with Haason Reddick to terrorize quarterbacks.

Fan posts on X buzz with excitement, with @EaglesNation saying, “He’s a perfect fit!” Philly’s defense, ranked top-10 in sacks, eyes a 2025 title run.

As training camp looms, Okoronkwo’s potential signing could reshape the Eagles’ front. Can he spark a repeat championship? Stay tuned to ESPN for updates.
