Eagles Add Speedy, Cut Third-Round Pick as OTAs Near

To Play or Not to Play, UW Has Decision to Make on Giles Jackson - Sports Illustrated Washington Huskies News, Analysis and More

The Philadelphia Eagles are keeping things moving in the offseason as they fine-tune their roster. Fresh off a two-day rookie camp, the team made a switch on their 90-man roster. On Sunday, they signed wide receiver Giles Jackson, and to make room, waived running back Tyrion Davis-Price.

Giles Jackson, at 23 years old, showcased his talents during a tryout at the Eagles’ rookie camp and evidently left a lasting impression. Coming out of Washington undrafted, Jackson snagged a coveted spot on the team’s roster as they gear up for Organized Team Activities (OTAs) later this month. Standing at 5-foot-9 and weighing in at 187 pounds, Jackson began his college football journey at Michigan before transferring to Washington for the final leg of his collegiate career.

While at Washington, Jackson proved his mettle as a versatile offensive weapon. In the 2024 season, he tallied 85 receptions for 893 yards and found the end zone 7 times.

Not just content with snagging passes, he also made waves in the return game, handling both kicks and punts. Over his three-year stretch in Washington, he amassed 135 catches for 1,414 yards and snagged 9 touchdowns.

And let’s not forget his reported speed—clocking in at the low 4.4s on the stopwatch during Washington’s pro day. That kind of speed can surely help stretch the field and give opposing defenses something to think about.

As Jackson steps into the fold, Tyrion Davis-Price finds himself the odd man out. At 24, Davis-Price entered the NFL as a third-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers back in 2022.

He joined the Eagles last February and spent the 2024 season honing his skills on the practice squad. His field time in regular season action was limited; appearing in just a single game where he logged 3 carries for a total of 7 yards.

The Eagles’ offseason routine is in full swing, building up towards their OTAs scheduled to kick off on May 27. As the team assembles its cast of players for the upcoming season, all eyes are on how these changes will shape the dynamics on the field.
