Chip Kelly, the former head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, has sparked speculation with hints of a potential return to the team in a leadership capacity.
On the “College Football Enquirer” podcast, Kelly made intriguing comments about his future with the Eagles, stirring excitement among fans.
“I’ve always loved Philly—the fans, the energy,” Kelly said, adding, “I’d love to be back in that building, working with the staff again.”
Kelly led the Eagles from 2013 to 2015, posting a 26-21 record but was fired after a 6-9 season in 2015, following controversial trades like sending LeSean McCoy to the Bills.
Currently the head coach at UCLA, Kelly has a 35-34 record over six seasons, with a 2024 season ending at 8-5, highlighted by a win in the LA Bowl against Fresno State.
His comments come as the Eagles, fresh off a Super Bowl LIX victory, look to enhance their organization under Nick Sirianni, who boasts a 48-20 record since 2021.
Eagles fans on X had mixed reactions, with @EaglesNation posting, “Kelly back in leadership? No way—his trades were awful!” while @PhillyFanatic said, “He might bring some fresh ideas after Super Bowl LIX!”
Kelly’s potential return could add experience, but his past tenure and the team’s current success under Sirianni raise questions about his role and fit.
