The Kansas City Chiefs have the 31st overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. However, they could look to trade up and draft a true difference-maker for their defense.
Mykel Williams from the University of Georgia is one of the best players in this draft class, and he could be an asset for the Chiefs' defense. However, if the Chiefs want him, they may not be able to wait until the 31st overall pick. The Athletic's Nate Taylor predicted that the Chiefs would make this trade with the Minnesota Vikings to land Williams:
- Chiefs receive: 24th overall pick, 139th overall pick and 2026 fourth-round pick
- Vikings receive: 31st overall pick, 95th overall pick and 2026 fourth-round pick
"Acquiring Williams, who is only 20 years old, could be a godsend for Veach, Reid and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo," wrote Taylor. "Williams has plenty of juice when it comes to rushing the quarterback from the edge. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 267 pounds, Williams has the size and frame that Spagnuolo covets in his defensive ends.
"One reason Williams might slip a bit in the first round is that he spent much of last season playing through a nagging left ankle injury," Taylor continued. "But he still earned second-team All-SEC honors last season, recording five sacks, eight tackles behind the line of scrimmage and two forced fumbles."
Williams could join Chris Jones on the defensive line and help the Chiefs' defense dominate in 2025. Williams was named Second-Team All-SEC the last two seasons. He was a Freshman All-American and named to the SEC All-Freshman team. He finished his career at the University of Georgia with 14 sacks in three seasons.
