The Buffalo Bills are exploring a trade to bolster their wide receiver depth, targeting Tennessee Titans’ former first-round pick Treylon Burks. With the 2025 NFL Draft nearing, Brandon Beane sees the $14 million bust as a low-risk addition to support Josh Allen’s high-octane offense, according to Bleacher Report.
Drafted No. 18 overall in 2022 to replace A.J. Brown, Burks disappointed in Tennessee, amassing only 33 receptions for 444 yards and one touchdown in his 2022 rookie season. Injuries and inefficiency plagued his next two years, but his 6’2”, 225-pound frame offers untapped potential for Joe Brady’s scheme.
“Burks has the size and athleticism to thrive with Allen,” said NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks. “If Buffalo can keep him healthy, he’s a steal at this price.”
The Titans, unwilling to activate Burks’ fifth-year option, are open to trading him for a seventh-round pick. His $2.6 million guaranteed salary for 2025 fits within Buffalo’s $5.3 million cap space, making the deal financially viable despite a $12.6 million cap overage.
“We’re always looking for value,” Brandon Beane told reporters. “A player like Burks could develop into a key piece without breaking the bank.”
The Bills’ receiver room, anchored by Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Joshua Palmer, lacks depth after failing to re-sign Amari Cooper. Burks could serve as an ancillary target, complementing Shakir’s slot work and Coleman’s deep threat while learning from Palmer’s veteran presence.
However, Burks’ injury history and inconsistent production raise concerns. Beane’s recent additions, like James Bradberry, Justin Simmons, and Tre’Davious White, show a knack for reviving veterans, but Burks must stay on the field to justify the gamble. His fit in Brady’s quick-pass system is promising.
With James Cook’s future uncertain, Buffalo prioritizes cost-effective moves to maximize Allen’s Super Bowl window. Burks may not be the WR1 fans crave, but his upside makes him a worthy flyer. Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp for updates.
