Buffalo, NY – April 28, 2025
The Buffalo Bills bolstered their offense, signing Cleveland Browns free agent wide receiver Elijah Moore to a one-year, $4.5 million deal, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. After drafting only Kaden Prather in Round 7, Brandon Beane’s pitch landed the dynamic playmaker to ignite Josh Allen’s 4,306-yard passing attack.
Moore, 25, brings speed and versatility, tallying a career-high 61 receptions for 538 yards in 2024. Despite subpar quarterback play in Cleveland, his 4.35-second 40-yard dash and special teams prowess make him a fit for Joe Brady’s RPO scheme. Beane outmaneuvered an unusual Browns tender to secure him.
“Moore’s a sparkplug,” Beane told The Buffalo News’ Ryan O’Halloran. “He’ll open things up for Allen.”
With Amari Cooper in free agency, the Bills needed a reliable target to complement Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman. Moore’s route-running and returner skills add depth, supporting James Cook’s 1,086 rushing yards. His Ole Miss pedigree and high school ties to Bills receiver Josh Palmer enhance his fit.
“It’s a savvy move,” said NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks. “Moore could break out with Allen’s arm.”
The Bills, with $5.3 million in cap space and $7.3 million freed from cuts like Dane Jackson, afford Moore’s bargain deal. Cook’s $15 million contract dispute looms, but Moore’s signing strengthens Buffalo’s aerial game, giving Allen a weapon to challenge the Chiefs in 2025.
