Philadelphia, PA – April 08, 2025, 09:41 PM PDT
The Kansas City Chiefs, a top AFC contender, have requested a trade for Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert.
The Chiefs aim to replace legendary tight end Travis Kelce, who is expected to retire after the 2025 season following a decline to 615 yards in 2024.
Goedert, 30, is an ideal target with 496 yards and 2 touchdowns in 10 games in 2024, despite missing 7 games due to injury.
The Chiefs offered a 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2026 fifth-round pick for Goedert, who carries an $11.81 million cap hit in 2025.
However, Eagles GM Howie Roseman rejected the offer, demanding at least a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick, per an X post from @nflrums on April 7, 2025.
Roseman’s higher asking price reflects Goedert’s value as a top tight end when healthy, and the Eagles’ need for high picks to address gaps at cornerback or edge rusher after losing Darius Slay and Josh Sweat.
Chiefs fans on X are excited, with @ChiefsKingdom posting, “Goedert could replace Kelce—make the deal!” while Eagles fans resist, saying, “Can’t let Goedert go to the Chiefs!” (@EaglesNation).
With the draft approaching, the Chiefs may need to up their offer to secure Goedert, while Roseman continues to seek the best trade partner to maximize value for the Eagles.
