Buffalo, NY – April 28, 2025
The Buffalo Bills’ 2025 NFL Draft, heavy on defense, has put three veterans on notice: DeWayne Carter, A.J. Epenesa, and Tre’Davious White. New talents like T.J. Sanders, Landon Jackson, and Maxwell Hairston threaten their roster spots, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Carter, a 2024 third-round defensive tackle, missed time due to injuries, stalling his development. The Bills traded up for Sanders and Deone Walker, signaling a youth movement. Carter must shine in camp to secure a role behind DaQuan Jones.
“Rookies are hungry,” Brandon Beane told The Buffalo News. “Allen’s defense needs competitors.”
Epenesa, a reliable edge rusher, faces pressure in his contract’s final year. With Greg Rousseau locked in and Joey Bosa signed, third-rounder Jackson’s arrival makes Epenesa a trade candidate if he doesn’t outperform in training camp.
White, re-signed on a one-year deal, struggles post-injuries (ACL, Achilles). First-rounder Hairston, plus Jordan Hancock and Dorian Strong, challenge the former All-Pro. White needs a strong camp to hold off Christian Benford and Dane Jackson.
As James Cook’s contract talks falter, Beane’s draft reshapes Allen’s squad. Carter, Epenesa, and White face make-or-break moments to avoid trades or cuts, with Bills Mafia eyeing a 2025 Super Bowl run.
